Satire is not a two way street.
That is the proposal. That it is unlikely to be possible for there to be equivalence on the right and left. Now that is an awkward statement or phrasing of the* obvious.
There is difficulty comparing anything at opposite ends of the political spectrum, let alone** middles. The Olbermann/Beck comparison is along the lines of journalism more than parody. Limbaugh along the lines of Colbert more than Olbermann. It may be along the lines of who is pulling whose leg for whom. That's the gravitas!
To paraphrase the difficulty for which there is more work needed, parody may be more difficult for those in power. But this may confuse parody with satire, or either with having a point, confounded by the(~)irony of being direct about the point in a world of hypocrisy.

It was a reference to the Bill Maher-Elizabeth Hasselbeck feud over humor and politics. aka: rhetoric and intelligence
It also pertains to the King of Rhetoric and the Genre Clash. But in regard to the "Billy Club" it was based on the "Billy Boy" name Elizabeth used, (which I use) to indicate that Beck(Glenn, nor HasselB) is not in the league of Bill Maher let alone the likes of other Bills. Now I have realized that the Billy Club could be easily mistaken as including O'Reilly. It does, but in the likes of not being in the same league as any on the so-called "left". Indeed Bill O'Reilly does make FOX look respectable, considering the field(Comedy News Network). So to be sure, the Billy Club is a fan club not a weapon, but is about the Genre Clash which is more of an evolution(note mutation) than a revolution (actualy Spin Zone).
I will pause to review the above and maybe find more to explain, and in that vain, well actually on a new path(vein or vane) I might not have more to explain, if I am more careful.
But back to the original forum of explaining(The View) and my not always having viewed sources completely (we all cherry pick-but some don't know apples from oranges, and I may be a fruit salad maker by not wanting to clean my kitchen of the tools or fruits* and nuts of the right) here is a countertop** I don't use. But my embedded point of the first asterrisk is my own suggested answer to Bill O'Reilly for why President Obama is hated. "Because of the likes of you, Bill O'Reilly". It even has a sense of balance.

[Well actually I was thinking about the organizational structure of the ABC: the Anti-Billy Club. Bill Maher would be the what? Only the original Billy maybe. Heck this is metaphorical anyway. Maybe ASZ would work. Anti-Spin Zone? Too court jestery but maybe a hint at the structure. So structure aside it is the thought that counts.(Though some are free to flow down D'Nile or the slippery slope.) The Try Angle of ABC's aside, it might be too fruitless. But recognizing some of the negativity in the words adn sybolism is a bit like the expectations of Representative Steve King. Thankfully he is a Represenative that may obviate the label of leadership. The pulling back he expects of our President, is the other end of this candle burning on both ends. I won't drag philosphies or ideologies in at this point, only the word play or lack of efficiency in its utilizations. The Anti-Billy Club is a sentiment that is not about Bill Maher or Bill O'Reilly(Or a reflection on the Bill of Rights, but justly might be.) It is about the club of association, a tool that some wield as a weapon or simply run with scissors when a spoon may do.]

But it may be a Peter, Paul and Robin' hood scenario. AKA a spin on our past presidents. But seriously or rather flippantly, the book is also about false equivalents. Rachel is no Jon Stewart, Olbermann is no Glenn Beck, Matthews is no "fair and balanced", and Ed Schultz is no Rush, though he does get flush at times. It is about the dialogue, even if it is grand sitting at times.]

My point is that debt is not the primary problem, although maybe growth is. Debt to GDP is not really a problem either...yet, note the peak in the 1940's proceeded by the growth in the middle class(cni)* and continued growth in GDP(cni). What also occured in the subsequent years, increase in wages, increase in consumption, and increases in taxes.(cni) Correlary: taxes are not the primary or secondary problem either, they are a fraction of the solution.

Olbermann to Return
After two day exile, MSNBC will return him to the air. While not blogging on it myself,(I did not panic) between friends I noted, that good would come from it. Not so much the book as the difference between FOX and MSNBC. (Con text)
(Parsing Disgust and the Mama(middle) Bear! Not that the middle is the right, or the left or right wrong, but maybe Mother nature does have a hand in who knows best. Not to call MSNBC the baby bear, but is does seem childish to devolve into who started* it.

OK, I will not expound upon whatever my headline means, except for this poll.
But have we learned anything from the Shirley Sherrod episode?
Others have a more nuanced stand, while Keith Olbermann attempts some perspective.
[Nuanced footnote: Grounds: Zero?. And yet, I can support* Harry Reid's statement, realizing he may know the difference which Republicans don't, basically like Chris Hayes does not support The National Review, but does not intend to ban it. It seems to hinge(or spin) on freedom and opportunity.

FAUX CAMP (II)
My reason for bumping up, the extended portion of FAUX NEWS, is Rachel Maddow and the Constitution, namely the 1st Amendment,
regarding the free press, not my extended references in this blog.
NOT TO MENTION FINALLY THE BILL IS BLOOMIN' DONE>
I propose that Republicans are furthering their childish rhetoric to get attention as they are really running from a free press, in the likes of MSNBC. Not to mention the questions that they would have to face in the likes of Ed Schultz or Keith Olbermann(and Lawrence O'Donnell*). Dylan Ratigan and Chris Matthews are no slouches, but the latter is a bit too sophisticated for my taste at times.
I can understand now why Scott Brown in Massachusetts is running against Rachel Maddow since he actually thinks she is campaigning against him, when it is really he who is running on running from her.

BTW: FOX's whole existence was built on the myth of the liberal media, aka The Mainstream Media, and it is a shame that it justifies MSNBC's approach or calling it out and calling on the country to wake-up and behave. Comparing an Error
And/or Era?
Baby Killer vs. the Great Society
The Texas Republican who shouted "baby killer" apologized as he was not speaking of Representative Stupak, just the bill. While the New York Times corrects Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman, for saying Newt Gingrich was speaking about President Johnson and the Civil Rights Act, when he was speaking of the Great Society.
Minor corrections in both cases, but both seem to compound the point. As the blanks were needed filling, the former is still is for shame and the latter still for irony of whose Waterloo. On the darker side of irony there was the gauntlett congress bravely faced[*]to do their job, while the previous administration protected their leader from the signs of the times.
Moments before the historic signing moments I hear: Maybe the Republicans peaked too soon?

March on Washington

Ed Schultz has been arguing for a march on Washington ala Tea Party.
Pardon the last crack but we should listen to some of what they say.
Norman Goldman has more suggestions for addressing issues that are not being faced.

* Depose Harry Reid: unless (I will add)he has progress and the Obama agenda (such as I hope it is) up his sleeve.
Update 2-22-10: That was fast! Two days actually: Maddow and Olbermann point to the movement politics taking effect.
[Boehner reply kicks legs out from under the table of summit. Put simply, the House Republican leader has knocked the president's proposal, even though it addresses many of the complaints that Americans have about the differences between the House and Senate plan. We are not starting from scratch but presenting and addressing proposals.]

Does the Massachusetts vote mean that the House should pass the Senate Bill, or should they reject it?
My view is it should get a vote, up or down or side ways* meaning risking some changes, risking the filibuster. Then the Senate can up or down it, or break it up. Speaking of holding water or breaking a mirror.***

Who needs brackets?
Maybe a Turn a Meant.
I am not taking the Fifth but there is a sixth line in the countdown. Keith Olbermann recently added a new quick comment format. He is welcome to call it QCON. And weirdly enough I recently tweaked my own labels, not to mention Ribble*.
* my use of labels is inconsistent not to mention following up with the answers to my Ribbles, let alone defining the mixed punderstanding of nuance.
(Riddle: Ribble: Ripple) Now that is spin.
